This study explores the context of in-service training programs for prospective teachers who have finished their pre-service education and plan to become teachers. Through literature review, questionnaire and info1'mal discussions with educational administrators, university professors, secondary, elementary and kindergarten teachers, and students in teacher training universities and colleges, the researcher indicates that the important in-service educational contents include student guidance, classroom management, teacher-parent communication, teaching practice, teaching methods and professional development; the ways to conduct these in-service training programs are small group conference and discussion, observing experienced teachers' teaching. Finally, several recommendations are presented to educational administration departments, teachers colleges and normal universities, and in-service teacher educational centers in order to organize appropriate in-service training programs for prospective teachers. |
