Undergraduates require a wealth of career information to make occupational choices. On the other hand, libraries may collect and provide information about occupations, education, and career planning to assist people in their choice-making process. This is the so-called "career information service" of libraries. To understand undergraduates' demand on career information service in university libraries, the researchers deployed semi-structured in-depth interviews in this research. The interviewees were 24 undergraduates at National Taiwan University. Study results revealed that the interviewees judged the quality of career information by considering whether the information was relevant, completed, reliable, up-to-date, and objective. Lacking of information search skills was the major difficulties the interviewees encountered. The interviewees expected university library to provide information of tests and digital career information, as well as to set up a career information zone. Besides, the cooperation between university library and student career center was highly recommended. |
