Lives in modern society could be stressful, including children's. Librarians of public libraries, in where abundant information resourcesare collected, should contemplate onhelping children deal with emotional disturbance problems by providing developmental bibliotherapeutic services. In this study, semi-structured in-depth interviews are deployed to understand the demand for developmental bibliotherapeutic service in public libraries. Thirty participants in total, including children, parents and teachers, have shared their opinions under this topicwith the researcher. The findings reveal that emotional healing comics and fictions which contain themes of interpersonal or love relationship, family issue, and life education are required. In addition, the participants consider public libraries providing annotated bibliography or book list of emotional healing resources, categorizing books under different themes, implementingrelated exhibition, and planting bibliotherapeutic service area in a public library. Long-distance service is recommended as well. Also, the librarians should possess cordiality and profession. Thisresearchis executed in hope to help the facilitation of bibliotherapeutic services in public libraries. |
