The study was an evaluation of the effect of multimedia-based learning materials of drug abuse preventive intervention on drug-related knowledge, attitudes, life skills, drug refusal efficacies, and drug use intention among college students. This study was a quasi-experimental design. In 2012, a total of 499 participants were first-grade students from a university of science and technology in northern Taiwan. Students in the experimental group participated in an 80-minute multimedia-based drug abuse prevention intervention, while students in the control group received no intervention. A pre-test was conducted one-week before the intervention, while a post-test was conducted after the intervention. The results indicated that the multimedia-based drug abuse prevention intervention significantly increased drug-related knowledge, attitudes, life skills, and drug refusal efficacies for participating students. The implementation of multimedia-based learning materials education intervention into the course of university of science and technology was recommended. |
