Oral melanotic macule is a pigmented lesion of the oral cavity. Traditional treatment for the oral melanotic macule is surgical excision that always leads to scar formation and may cause esthetic problem for the lesion on lip. In this case report, we used cryotherapy for an oral melanotic macule lesion on the left side of lower lip of a 19-year-old male patient. The lesion was cleared after twice of treatments. No recurrence of the lesion was found after a follow-up period of 3 months. We suggest that cryotherapy may be effective in treating oral melanotic macule lesions without esthetic problem in lip. |
