Conducted by Penghu County Services Center of New Residents, this research made between May and July 2011 was meant to build up a new framework to provide services to female foreign spouses in local communities. To meet this target, we had to understand the degree of local support given to foreign female spouses (who came from China and/or South East Asian countries on the main) living in the five towns and one city of Penghu County. Then, we had to analyze the relevant factors that would influence the degree of social support. Lastly, we had to build up a reference framework for the design of service programs to the female foreign spouses.A quantitative methodology was adopted in this research. We firstly issued questionnaires to collect data. After analyzing the data, we had the following key findings: The degrees of social support felt by new residents were not related to their original nationality and the length of time they had lived in Taiwan. However, the degrees of social support were related to their ages and residential addresses. These findings were used to set up a future service framework in a hope to narrow down the gaps among different regions in the county and construct service supporting spots more accessible to the foreign female spouses in Penghu. |
