In 2011, we have implemented the first generation prototype of environment monitoring car for experiment. There are a variety of environmental sensors and surveillance camera system on it, such as temperature and humidity measurement data, carbon monoxide detector, and fire flame detector. In this paper, as one of the ubicomp (ubiquitous computing) applications, Android smart phone and embedded system are involved in this new architecture. We have modified a RC car to drive it with an Android smartphone over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi communication. The Android Application incorporate accelerometer which is a sensor that detects how you are holding a smartphone and the degree of roll, pitch and yaw, to control the servo motor on the front to act like a steering wheel, or brushed motor on the rear act like an engine. User tilts the phone to forward or backward control the speed of car. |
