Compact CPW-fed Tapered Slot Antenna with Semi-elliptical Ground Plane for Ultra-wideband Applications

A compact printed tapered slot antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications is proposed in this article. The proposed antenna is only 20X25 mm^2 and its impedance bandwidth matching VSWR＜2 from 2.7 to 11 GHz covers the entire UWB frequency band. Moreover, the measured antenna characteristics show a monopole-like omni-directional pattern and small group delay. Details of the proposed antenna design and measured results are also presented and discussed.
