The main purposes of this research were to explore the developmental assets and to analyze the relationship between the developmental assets and social-demographic characteristics among the adolescents in Keelung City. The sampling students were selected by using two-stage random sampling. The research subjects were the students in the six junior high schools from seventh to ninth graders in 2009 academic year. Eighteen classes were selected with the total effective samples being 517. A structured questionnaire was completed by using self-administered method to collect quantitative data. The data collected was analyzed by t-test and One-way ANOVA. The results showed that the average scores of total developmental assets, external and internal assets of the students were in the fair level. The developmental assets, external assets and internal assets among the students were significantly different based on their parents' educational levels, fathers' occupations, and family intactness. Based on the research findings, it is recommended to strengthen and construct adolescents’ developmental assets, help them learn more positive experiences, and establish better interpersonal relationship and opportunities. Adolescents can get proficiencies and better skills and accumulate more assets as well. |
