過敏疾病是兒童常見的急性或慢性疾病。過敏病是文明病，過敏病的發生，由於生態環境污染的結果，全球的過敏病都在增加，台灣自不例外，近年來的統計，氣喘、過敏性鼻炎、異位性皮膚炎的發生率巳大幅增加，雖然異位性皮膚炎的發生率較另2種低，但因生活環境和飲食習慣改善，異位性皮膚炎根據衛生署國民健康局委託台大公衛學院所做的「台灣出生世代研究」，嬰幼兒異位性皮膚炎盛行率已從1995年的1%，大幅攀升到2004年的6.7%。近年異位性皮膚炎的發病率有明顯增高的趨勢，顯著的瘙癢常引起患者失眠，從而影響患者生活品質，甚至影響患者治療的自信心。中醫注重辨證論治，急則治其標，緩則治其本，或標本同治，調理身體臟腑機能，改善體質，達到治療疾病之本。

As a kind of civilization disease, allergic disease is one of the common acute or chronic childhood illnesses. Ecological environment pollution also causes the increase in allergic disease around the world. Taiwan is not an exception. According to the statistical data in recent years, there has been a sharp increase in asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis in Taiwan. The incidence of atopic dermatitis is lower than the other two allergic diseases. But, according to the Taiwan Birth Cohort Study (College of Public Health, NTU), the improvement of living environment and eating habits has given a push to the sharp increase (from 1% in 1995 to 6.7% in 2004) in the prevalence of infantile atopic dermatitis in Taiwan. In recent years, the incidence of atopic dermatitis tends to significantly increase. Heavy itching and irritation can cause insomnia and have bad effects on the patients' life quality and self-confidence. Based on syndrome differentiation, TCM treats the secondary (biao) for emergency cases and the primary (ben) for chronic cases. TCM puts emphasis on regulating internal organs and improving body functions in order to give a permanent cure.
