Impression after Reading 'Hu Xishu-A Clinician of TCM'

胡希恕教授為近代經方名家，其一生致力於《傷寒論》、《金匱要略》的研究，提倡「方証是辨証的尖端」，其弟子繼承師志，發揚「方證學」。胡老認為仲景書並非源自《內經》，而是取材於《伊尹湯液經》，為不同於《內經》的醫學流派。並判定六經非指經絡臟腑，而是六種基本疾病類型：太陽─少陰，是一對，為「表證」的陰與陽；陽明─太陰，也是一對，為「證」的陰與陽；少陽─厥陰，又是一對，為「半表半證」的陰與陽。而他論脈不難，將脈分成太過不及二類，只若於其生成源頭，心中有數，指下尋按，自會明了，使得脈象易學易懂，嘉惠後學。胡老不僅享譽國內，連日本的中醫界，也稱讚他是「中國有獨特理論體系的、著名的《傷寒論》研究者、經方家。」

As a famous scholar in favor of classical prescription, Professor Hu Xishu dedicates his whole life to the study of 'Shanghan Lun (focusing on febrile conditions attributed to 'Cold')'and 'Jingui Yaolue (focusing on 'miscellaneous illnesses')' . Following the theory of 'prescription is the most important part in differentiation' , Hu’s disciples carry on his work and continue developing prescription-symptom theory system. According to Hu's thoughts, Zhang Zhongjing's written works were developed from 'Yiyin's Decoction Classic' not from 'Huangdi Neijing' . It is a different school from Neijing. He thinks that 'liu jing' means six basic types of disease not six meridians-organs. The pair of Taiyang-Shaoyin is external syndrome. The pair of Yangming-Taiyin is internal syndrome. The pair of Shaoyang-Chuehyin is semi-exterior and semi-interior syndrome. Under the theory of Hu, pulse conditions are simply divided into two types of 'excess' and 'deficiency' based on their original sources. This makes pulse diagnosis easy to learn and understand. Mr. Hu is not famous only in Taiwan but also in Japan. He is renowned as a famous unique-style researcher and scholar in favor of classical prescription about 'Shanghan Lun' in China
