According to western medicine, the major procedures for cancer therapy include surgery, chemotherapy and ionizing radiation therapy. However, these therapies are sometimes inadequate, as well as having potential risks of side effects. Cancer inpatients have their needs for prolonging life and reducing side-effects of western medicine treatment. Chinese medicine as adjuvants in cancer treatment may help the treatment course to be finished smoothly in order to provide the best curative effect. With the combination of traditional Chinese and western medicine, we can try to relieve cancer treatment side effects, such as stomach upset, vertigo and hair loss after surgery, chemotherapy and ionizing radiation therapy, and try to alleviate the symptoms of dry-mouth, mouth ulcers, constipation, diarrhea, and difficulty in opening mouth during the cancer treatment in order to help the western medicine treatment course to be finished smoothly and get the best curative effect. In particular, the terminal patients' cancer cachexia including body weight loss, anorexia, weakness and cancer pain can be reduced through Chinese medical health care in order to improve the quality of life of the patients |
