Because of the unique learning characteristics and educational needs of gifted students, the Education Office in Miaoli County developed the local mentorship program to provide richer human and community resources from 2010. The research tried to explore the system of individual guidance and mentorship in order to understand relevant provisions, current implementation, and the idea of students and parents for subsequent planning. It combined with the spirit of qualitative research and action research through in-depth observation and interviews as data collection and research tools, and also tried to explore and analyze for the actual record through report results and existing document. According to the results, the whole process of mentor model gradually refined and institutionalized in the driven process, from plan's formulation and announce, student's application and qualification, mentor's pairing and matchmaking, etc., and conform to previous expectations. In terms of the implementation, meeting with mentors, rules' following, the record of learning portfolio, mentor's guiding and activities' organizing, as well as the results report and presentation, the content were very rich and diverse. And, most mentors were also sure of student performance and overall system. And then, their parents and students had a high degree of satisfaction. Students felt the mentor would guide students timely to provide more circumspect ideas or new thoughts, and can have more inspiration and direction of their own efforts on the future. Parents said their children had a broader view of things, more proactive, focused, cheerful, more ideas, more able to think independently, understanding the importance of teamwork, and even for their interest, aptitudes, and future direction in life clearly. Finally, giving some suggestions proposed for researcher's and educator's reference according to the findings. |
