The purposes of this study aim at understanding the perception of social capital from hospital staff and their social network. Simultaneously, the effect of social capital on the efficiency of hospital staffs will also be explored. Questionnaire was complied in this research and 150 respondents from a medical center in northern Taiwan were sampled at systematical sampling. A total of 112 complete surveys were return. The perception of social capital from employees is extracted from exploratory factor analysis. Multiple hierarchical regression analysis is employed to examine how the factor of social capital affects working efficiency of hospital employees. The results of this study are shown that the weak tie in social network influences both working-problem solving and participation in leisure activities. According to factor analysis, three major factorial dimensions of social capital was extracted, including structure of reciprocal support and share resources, cognitive of leisure activities, and trust and cooperation. The result of multiple hierarchical regression analysis shows that the factors of social capital positively influenced the efficiency of hospital staff and was helpful for employees to achieve the shared vision of medical service. The increment of R-square is 55.1% and 32.3%, respectively. Based on social capital and social network, hospitals can exchange and integrating resources, create dynamic capacity, and enhance working efficiency. |
