The pregnancy is the result of sexual behavior. Adolescent non-marital pregnancy has becomea serious problem in our society because of increasing the rates of premarital sex behavior. In order todecrease the rates of non-marital pregnancy, it is necessary to understand adolescents ’ viewpoints andattitudes toward the sexuality. A study using focus groups was undertaken during 2003-2004. A total of16 students participated in the study and 5 variables were included. The sample of adolescent was takenfrom college students in Hsinchu. Each group meeting lasted for 90 min. the interviews weresemistructured through use of a tape-recorded, direct observation of behavior, and transcribed verbatim.The data then were coded and organized according to the themes that had been emerged in the interviews.The qualitative content analysis was performed. The participating adolescents ’ reflections on theirviewpoints of premarital sex behavior were developed into five main themes which was follows:ideology self-contradictory and conflict between traditional and present, under traditional culture’spremarital sex behavior, supportive system influence the attitudes and viewpoints toward the sexualbehavior, and the motive, circumstance and conflict of the premarital sex behavior. The results of thisstudy can understand female college students attitude and viewpoints of premarital sex behavior. Thisproblem has become a complex issue which require both society and health professional efforts toprevent non-marital pregnancy. |
