This paper explores the reception of the Ming text Shizhuan daquan in early Qing dynasty Shijing (Classic of Poetry) studies. I propose that the Shizhuan daquan, before 1732, was highly valued by scholars of the Shijing, and because of the interrelationship among the Shizhuan daquan, Shijing zhuanshuo huizuan, and Shiyi zhezhong, Shijing studies of the early Qing dynasty were influenced by the Shizhuan daquan; and even Shijing studies later in the Qing dynasty were also indirectly affected by the Shijing zhuanshuo huizuan and Shiyi zhezhong. The study not only explains why the Shizhuan daquan should be discussed in Shijing studies of the Qing dynasty, but also demonstrates the importance of the Ming text Wujing daquan in the history of classical Confucian studies of the Qing dynasty. |
