Purpose: The aims of this survey were to understand paramedics' knowledge and attitude about sexual harassment in the workplace, and to determine their degree of satisfaction with the sexual harassment prevention measures in the institutions in which they worked. Method: A questionnaire was developed to sample knowledge, attitudes and degree of satisfaction with prevention measures. Of 330 questionnaires delivered, 320 were returned for a response rate 91.5%. Results: Results showed that paramedics who worked on chronic medical wards and had higher academic achievement, more years of service and were older were more sensitive to the feelings, language, and non-verbal behaviors associated with sexual harassment. Conclusions: There was support for sexual harassment prevention as part of continuing education and the establishment of convenient reporting channels. |
