This paper discusses the importance of Australian aboriginal issues and research orientation. With at least forty thousand years of history, the Australian aborigines, facing white European “invasion” during the last two or three hundred years, have experienced the destruction and reconstruction of indigenous culture, livelihood shackles imposed by the system environment, even more important is being forced to accept the never-met issue of national identity. These are the crucial issues of Australian aboriginal studies. Before proceeding to these discussions, the research orientation of Australian academic institutions is also the subject of concern to the author. By and large, the self-reflection and reconciliation of Australian government, aboriginal research institutions and general people in the face of the general issues related to indigenous people presenting positive meaning to the future development of Australian aborigines. |
