Most people have the experiences of musculoskeletal disorder (MSD). One of safety and health cognitive studies pointed that operators think more than 40% MSD have relationships with their jobs. Ergonomic Checklists are used to identify ergonomic risk factors in work environment. The aim of this study is to detect suitability for BRIEF in the steel industry by in-plant intervention. The subjects of this study were steel industry workers on factories. There were 3 part of this study: 1) questionnaire to survey the musculoskeletal symptoms, 2) the Baseline Risk Identification of Ergonomic Factors (BRIEF) checklist to analyze jobs, 3) biomechanics analyze stresses of muscles. The results showed that MSD is 57.8% by self-reported and the sensitivity of BRIEF was above 50% based on the data of questionnaire and biomechanics. The BRIEF was based on the data of Americans’ anthropometry; it does not fit Chinese people. In the future, more study shall be done to construct checklists for the anthropometry data of Chinese people. |
