An air sampling and analytical method was developed for Cyhalothrin, Cypermethrin, Deltamethrin, Permethrin, Pyrethrins and Rotenone pesticides using a combined quatze filter and XAD-2 sorbent (OVS- 2), and PTFE filter, with acetonitrile as the extraction solvent and High Performance Liquid Chromatography-Ultraviolet detection. The method was evaluated for 5 pyrethroids pesticides and a rotenone pesticide for risk assessment of workers at pesticide manufacturing factories. The recovery rates of acetronitrile extraction of 5 pyrethroids pesticides and a rotenone pesticide from OVS-2 and PTFE samples are greater than 73.51% and 74.73% respectively and coefficient of variation is less than 7.39% and 18.73%, respectively. Additional experiments addressed long-term sample stability (28-day storage), limits of detection, and concentration levels down to 1/375~1/30 times of permissible exposure limits (PEL) value. Based on these results, all 6 compounds studied can be successfully determined simultaneously using either method. |
