The objective of this study is to conduct a stability analysis of aerial lifts to improve the safety of their operations. By using the dyanamic analysis software (DADS), stability simulations of aerial lifts are performed. Practical stability tests are also conducted. In this study, a truck type aerial lift with articulatory arms, commonly used in Taiwan, is chosen as the testing model. Dynamic loads, namely wind loads and the loads by motion due to slow movement, are neglected. In stability analyses, several factors such as various loads, unfavorable configurations and different incline surfaces are taken into consideration. Experimental results are utilized to verify the reliability of simulation analyses. This study provides the necessary technical information for the design of aerial lifts, and also help establishing the safety inspection criteria and safety standard revisions in the future. |
