To evaluate the environmental load from building industry, life cycle assessment (LCA) was used to evaluate CO2 emission. The purpose of this paper is to learn about the relationship between environmental burden and CO2 emission of interior decoration. It surveyed the condition of the interior decoration of department stores in Taiwan and established the database used for evaluating CO2 emission from more than 50 kinds of decoration materials. The CO2 emission is 7.84 ㎏-CO2/㎡ of ceiling materials, 0.74 ㎏-CO2/㎡ of ground materials, 6.92 ㎏-CO2/㎡ of wall materials, 5.86 ㎏-CO2/㎡ of furniture. The CO2 emission of all materials in department stores is 21.37 ㎏-CO2/㎡. The interior design changes so frequently that the interior decoration materials of department stores in Taiwan exhaust 146.13 ㎏-CO2/㎡ ,which has great influence on environmental load, during 27 years which is defined as the lifespan. Using green materials is a good choice for interior decoration to reduce CO2 emission. They are recyclable, can be assembled repeatedly and use less energy. Owing to energy structure changing with time, CO2 emission database must be renewed regularly. |
