The study is aiming at a passive cooling design by adopting ventilated double skin roof construction with natural ventilation air layers into buildings. The method is to induce the solar heat gain through the natural ventilation air layers. The research is studied by experiment and cooperated with an old RC building. Before double skin roof construction, there is no any other insulation layer on the roof. The study is to analyze the temperature distribution of the roof layers, heat flow intensity of the roof and some environmental parameters with the instruments before and after the construction project. The study finds out that without any mechanical ventilation system, by using natural ventilated double skin roof construction can reduce most of the solar radiation cooling loads from building roof. And the thermal conductance rate turn from original 3.88W/㎡℃ to 0.39W/㎡℃. It is shown that such roof construction has increased insulation performance. |
