The purpose of this paper is to study compression after fatigue (CAF) strength of concrete and ±45° composite/concrete columns under peak load P=19300kg, and fatigue cycle N=1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, and 5000. The load-displacement curves of some specific fatigue cycles are recorded to obtain the hysteresis curves. Compression tset is then conducted on the columns, and the failure modes are also observed. The CAF strength of composite/concrete columns is higher than that of concrete columns, the best of the former is 53.6% higher than the latter. This shows that the excellent reinforcing effect on the concrete columns provided by the glass/epoxy composite jackets. A theoretical model is proposed and correlates well with experimental data. |
