This study is based on oral history of catching butterflies from 1960’s to 1980 in alang Tongan / Baike by Seediq. I interviewed 8 people who trapped butterflies when they were young, about the acquisition of motivation, methods, region, type and size. They trapped butterflies for money supporting their living. When summer comes, almost all tribal people trapped a large number of butterflies in the Nanshan River Valley to supply the needs of industries in Puli Town. Knowing details of how they did in the past can help them to rebuild self-identity and to consider more about community conservation practices. Also, they can transform this study to in-depth ecotourism. |
