This research was about reverse atom transfer radical polymerization of 1-vinylimidazole in room temperature ionic liquids. Five room temperature ionic liquids were synthesized by using 1-methylimidazole as starting material, and CuCl2 was selected as catalyst in reverse atom transfer radical polymerization reaction of 1-vinylimidazole in the synthetic ionic liquids. The results revealed polydispersity was mainly influenced by ionic liquid's viscosity. By the way, with the same anion structure of ionic liquids, the lower viscosity of the solvents led to the narrower polydispersity of the polymers. |
