Gender equity is a goal that many countries have strived for. Education plays a role in achieving the goal and curriculum development is the key. In Taiwan, the nine-year curriculum has its separate Curriculum Framework for the issue of gender equity education and the approach of curriculum integration is employed, while for the upper secondary schools, the gender issue is only claimed as a significant issue. These measures failed to attain the expected outcomes. Thus, the paper aimed to review what had been done for the curriculum integration of gender equity issue. The main ideas were introduced as well as the problems were analyzed. Based on the retrospect of the past, the authors proposed what can be done for the new wave of curriculum reform of the 12-year basic education. |
