In Taiwan and China, the leading management school curriculum designs focus on T-shape talents, integrated practicum projects, the MBA+X and masters network programs. Management education is the key factor to improve the performance and train the managers of the hospitality and tourism industry. In order to explore how the trends of management curriculum design influence the trends of the hospitality management curriculum, researchers from Taiwan, America, and China were invited to participate in the study. The study adopted the method of in-depth interviews. Business school deans are the change agents central to curriculum design. Four deans of graduate institutes of business in Taiwan (National Taiwan University and National Cheng Kung University) and China (Peking and Tsinghua University) were interviewed. The study suggests that in order to cultivate T-shape talents hospitality management curriculum design can adopt the MBA+X, inter-discipline curriculum design, develop networking and integrated practicum project. |
