Utilizing three months of data collection, mainly in-depth interviews, and also informal interviews, observations, documents, and researchers’ journals as supplements, the researcher assured the research’s validity by the participants’ check and briefing, a research diary and a clear statement of the researcher’s point of view. With the collection of various data collected, this research uses the method of narrative analysis for analyzing the data and drawing conclusions from the findings. By the style of narrative writing, this study shall describe the environment of Taiwan in the 1980s and 1990s: the devotion and support for baseball from schools and the society, the passion for training sessions in every level, the unforgettable experiences of every game played, and trust, the heartfelt interaction between the coaching staff and the players. Academic researchers in sports recreation fields should continue recording the past, present and future events of athletes’ life stories. Thus bringing more meaning to this legacy of wisdom and experiences passed on to every generation’s baseball events including baseball lovers everywhere. |
