There is an ever increasing recognition of the need to evaluate the abilities of social education administrators. In this connection, a crucial question arises: what are the basic abilities necessary for a competent social education administrator? At present there is no clear-cut answer to this question. In an effort to shed light on the problem, this study attempted to identify the basic abilities of social education administrators. Through the review of literature, it was found that the basic abilities recognized as important for the social education administrator include personal qualities, professional knowledge, and professional skills and spirits. Forty-nine administrators serving at social education agencies were requested to evaluate the importance of the above-mentioned basic abilities on a rating scale. The results revealed that these abilities were considered of great importance by these administrators. |
