This article is to explore the assessment of relocation stress and glycemic control in seniors with diabetes and their nursing care in a nursing home. The purpose is to evaluate the effects of relocation stress nursing care and discover patients' problems, and then provide an appropriate nursing care strategy for elderly diabetic patients. The relocation stress occurs as a result of voluntarily or involuntarily relocating an elderly diabetic patient from one environment to another. It can lead to psychological and physiological disturbances. Negative emotions arise with the stress, and thus affect blood glucose levels in those who are moving to nursing homes. Therefore, using new assessment methods and techniques as well as strategies of nursing care for an improved glucose management for seniors with diabetes is considerably essential, which will facilitate greater efficiency of a more integrated diabetes management and service in nursing homes. |
