In face of climate change and rapid global population growth, many international organisations and countries have actively promoted green employment as a means of simultaneously giving due weight to economic and environmental needs. The purpose of this study is to investigate successful examples of the promotion of green employment in Western countries, with the aim of drawing lessons from their successful experience. Based on the findings of this study, our main policy recommendations are as follows: 1. Set up a government organization that serves as a green job promoter and coordinator among related agencies and entities. 2. Include green employment creation in government policy implementation targets and performance indicators. 3. Select for development industries that produce the best effects in energy saving, carbon reduction and job creation, and design green jobs that can be developed collaboratively with private enterprises. 4. Prioritize the development of technologies that are most easily popularized, and strengthen talent-fostering mechanisms. 5. Design a green employment quantification indicator, with reference to the methodology of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. |
