Achyranthes bidentata B is one of the plant of Amaranthaceae family and possesses analgesic, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, anti-bacterical and anti- convulsive activities. It was used to cure knee pain and strengthen sinews and bones and also as tonic supplements for liver and kidney. The methanolic extract of this herb was partitioned and separated by chromatographic methods. Fourteen components were obtained. By analyzing their physical, chemical and spectral data, these components were identified as a mixture of stigmasterol and β-sitosterol, paeonol, palmitic acid, physcion, chrysophanol, another mixture of stigmasterol-3-O-β-D-glucoside and β-sitosterol-3-O-β-D- glucoside, oleanolic acid, 5-(hydroxymethyl)-furfural, 1-palmityl glycerol, N- trans-feruloyl 3-methyldopamine, oleanolic acid-3-O-β-D-glucuronopyranoside 6'- methyl ester as well as ecdysterone. Among these compounds, paeonol, chrysophanol, 5-(hydroxymethyl)-furfural, 1-palmityl glycerol, N-trans-feruloyl-3- methyldopamine were isolated from Achyranthes genus for the first time. |
