The RAPD (random amplified polymorphic DNA) technique was employed to construct the fingerprints of five Chinese herbal medicines, Radix Bupleuri Chinensis, Radix Gentianae, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Phizoma Coptidis, and Radix Angelicae Sinensis, all collected from stores in Taipei. In the present study, a decamer primer OPP-07:5'GTCCATGCCA3' was used in RAPD analysis to reveal the special fingerprints of the live herbal medicines mentioned above. The aim of the study is to provide a fast, easy tool to differentiate the Chinese herbs from their adulterants. The technique will contribute to the quality control of imported Chinese herbs. |
