Diabetes mellitus falls in the Chinese medical category of Xi o-Dan or Xiao Ke (wasting thirst), Which is treated in different ways according to the level of the disease in the triple burner, distinction being made between upper, middle, and lower burner wasting thirst. This paper describes the case of a male diabetic by the name of Zeng, 70 years old, suffering from anal fissuring and ulceration that had occurred as the result of using suppositories for the treatment of constipation. After surgical treatment, the wound still failed to heal, and the patient was so flail that he could barely move. He suffered from dry stool and inhibited urination. This condition was diagnosed on debilitation of original qi with heat brewing internally. The treatment involved first attending to the spleen vacuity and then addressing the dampness pathogen. After this, the patient was given a supplementing formula based on ginseng and astragalus to boost qi and nourish the blood. The wound healed after nine consultations. |
