Whether in Taiwan or western countries few research has investigated the forced sex against women from the perspective of view of self. To make up for this gap this study explored the relationship between Chinese view of self (containing social-oriented and individual-oriented components) and men's forced sex against women. We used anonymous self-reported questionnaire to collect data. Participants involved a nationally representative sample of college students. From which we adopted male college students to conduct data analysis, the sample size is 732. The results showed that male college students with the experience of forcing sex against women had lower social-oriented view of self than those without the experience of forcing sex against women, social-oriented view of self presented a stronger correlation with male college students' forced sex against women than individual-oriented view of self, male college students with both lower social-oriented and individual-oriented view of self revealed the most experiences of forcing sex against women. Finally we discussed the implications, applications, limitations, and suggestions for future research in the present study. |
