This review examines Sabine Fruhstuck's book, which is mainly based on her personal experiences of in Japan Self-Defense Force (SDF)base, and makes positive remarks on Fruhstuck's discussions of the SDF's role in Japanese society, including how women were accepted by SDF, how Japanese society saw women self-defense forces, and how Japanese officials positively shaped the collective memory of SDF. Fruhstuck's study sets an innovative model of the socio-cultural research on SDF and feminism. |
