The patient with schizophrenia in this case has been hospitalized in a day-care ward for more than 10 years and has persistent negative thinking. Mind mapping was used to determine that the patient's primary health problem was low self-esteem and a 1-month intervention was administered using four graphics. The graphics were used to guide the patient through an in-depth personal experience to achieve self-understanding, a comprehension of the richness of the surrounding environment, and positive thinking, which helped the patient cope with feelings of inadequacy caused by the patient's high-achieving siblings. In addition, the patient was able to explore positive and negative feelings. This case study demonstrates a method of effectively addressing patients’ problems, increasing patients’ self-confi dence, and reorganizing patients’ life experiences. |
