As well known, solar heat gain via fenestration contributes to a significant proportion of the building envelope cooling load. Therefore, many countries have the window energy rating label system to prompt the consumers using the approved energy-saving window material, currently. However, it is not feasible to retrofit all window glazings in the existed building based on cost consideration. To reduce the energy expenditures in the existed building, adhere the solar control film on the window glass were more often used. Literature survey in this work revealed that the higher interior surface temperature on glass due to the film absorption of solar radiation, resulted in the decrease on thermal comfort index. This research project was initiated to evaluate the thermal performance and durability of glass with film faced on outside environment. The experimental results indicated that the surface temperature on glass with film faced the exterior was lower 10 0 C than that on glass with film faced the interior. On the other hand, the glass with solar coating film faced the exterior can not pass the durability test and accelerated aging test. In order to meet the specifications of durability tests, and have the excellent thermal performance, the proposed glass doping TiO2 photocatalyst layer outside solar film was developed in this study. |
