Vietnamese Armed Forces: Changes and Developments

1930 年2 月，越南共產黨成立後吸取已往的戰術戰法與經驗，奠定屬於越南的軍事思想基礎，並陸續經歷1930 至1945 年法日殖民時期、1945 至1954 年法越戰爭時期、1955 至1975 年美越戰爭時期、1976 至1986 年越戰結束國家統一時期、1986 至1993 年革新開放時期等5 個階段的轉變。尤其，1986 年越南政府實施革新政策以後，軍事思想和國防武力擺脫已往以伏擊戰術和「數量建軍」為主的主軸，逐漸邁向正規、精銳和現代化的質量建軍方針，這是越南國防武力建設的新紀元。

Founded in February 1930, Vietnamese Communist Party (VCP) learned from past tactics and experiences, established the military thought foundation which belongs to Vietnam. From 1930 to 1993, VCP went through five transforming periods in chronological order. Firstly, French and Japan colonial period (1930-45, Secondly, French-Vietnam War period (1945-54), Thirdly, U.S.-Vietnam War period (1955-75), Fourthly, the end of Vietnam War and North-South Vietnam unification period (1976-86), and lastly, the implementation of Doi Moi policy period (1986-93). It is worth mentioning that after the Vietnamese government implemented Doi Moi policy in 1986, its military thoughts and national defense forces abandoned past ambush tactics and quantity troops. Instead, it gradually transformed its army building guideline to regularized, rapid deployment and modernized quality troops. This is a new Era of Vietnam's national defense and military construction.
