The window glazing system can provide the high visible light transmittance for a better view, better environmental contribution and the esthetics of the architectural design. However, the application of such a window glazing system can cause the rise of the fire resistance, energy saving and environmental protection problems. This paper presents an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) based modeling framework for the prioritization of the glazing system selection. Both positive and negative impacts of the glazing system selection are considered in AHP survey. The results based on 40 expertise questionnaires indicated that 'performance' was perceived to be most important core selection criterion for the glazing system, 'appearance' was regarded as minor factor to be considered in selecting the glazing system. In addition, the BIPV alternative ranked in the first position regardless of criteria weight variations. The proposed results are expected to provide a valuable reference to building material manufacturers, architects and interior designers in utilizing the glazing system. |
