“Light” is not only used to satisfy the visibility of human beings, but also used to create the atmosphere in a space. The aim of this research is to investigate the effects of interior illuminance distribution on spatial impression. The results are as follows: Firstly, the effects of illuminance distribution on most of the evaluation items are significant. Secondly, among all 20 types, the types with well-balanced illuminance distribution or with symmetry arrangement of lighting led to better atmosphere and evaluation, but poor variation. Thirdly, the types that the four corners of the space are lighted up led to better atmosphere and evaluation. The obtained results suggest that the effects of controlling interior illuminance distribution can be used to create the spatial impression what a designer try to express without consuming extra energy. |
