Bamboo architecture has advantages of sustainable development and climate changing adaptability that is worth developing. However, there are few fundamental researches of structural bamboo in Taiwan. This paper presents an experimental investigation of bending and buckling behavior of Taiwan moso bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens) that the diameter, thickness and internodal length of bamboo are changed with height. After a total of 64 specimens tested and analyzed, the estimation of ultimate bending moment and critical buckling stress for different diameter is available for designing use. The fundamental result would be the basis for further research and application. |
