In 2009, the number of the elderly aged beyond 65 has reached up to 10.6% and according to the forecast from Council for Economic Planning and Development in 2030, the number of elderly aged 65 or older will reach 20% among overall population in Taiwan. Therefore, the ageing society will arrive much sooner than we expected. This study practically applies the Aging-In-Place concept and that demonstrates the current service resources provided in urban and rural areas which are not optimized. Therefore, a community in urban and rural areas was selected to explore the town and rural service resources. This research is in domestic studying and we adopted a main analytical method in GPS orbit record for the first time in order to analyze the GPS trace recorded, and understand the way the elderly live their life and the path and the scope of activities they join. We also supplemented with one-on-one interviews through keen observations and gained in-depth information of activity categories and behavior patterns of elderly people. Categorized the path of activity categories and behavior patterns of the elderly; the 'Social type', 'Optional type', and 'Necessary type' are proposed. We performed the research & provided the analysis of the degrees for places of real activities. The study was conducted thorough analysis to identify the most common place of public facilities that elderly use and meanwhile associated with the time of usage. In this case, the research can further provide the information regarding how to improve for the public places of communities with critical and essential demanded applications for the urban and rural elderly. |
