It has been a typical stereotype for most people as a girly thing that a male participates in a dance course, especially when they haven't get involved into any dance courses. It is the idea of 'gender appropriate' that needs to be reconstructed in our society to break the stereotype. According to the past research shows that dance has already been a part of the physical education curriculum, participants can get the physical fitness of physical ability. This article starts with the gender issue in the social psychology perspective, Meanwhile, the article would focus on four aspects: the motivation of male university students participate in dancing, peer accompany and support, the importance of teachers' attitudes and curriculum design. Discussions and suggestion have been worked on to have more understanding toward male participants in dance courses to have more contributions for dance curriculum. |
