英文摘要 |
The present paper is a result of library work and an initial five week tour in the Territory of Papua and New Guinea. This paper aims to give a general account of the history of Chinese migration and establishment in New Guinea and to present a preliminary ethnographic description of contemporary Chinese communities in the Territory of Papua and New Guinea. Although materials concerning the historical background have been drawn largely from published literature, especially from Biskup (1970) and Rowley (1958), they have been checked with interviews of first generation migrants and second generation local born Chinese. This paper is intended as an introduction to the life of Overseas Chinese in this part of the world, which has hitherto been neglected. Part 1, II and III are in Chinese, with an English summary. The whole of Part IV however, is written in both languages. |
