九歌中河伯之研究

A STUDY ON THE RIVER GOD OF THE NINE SONGS

就文學史的觀點來說，楚辭是中國古代南方文學的代表作品，在形式上它雖也受了北方文學－－待經的許多影響，然而在精神上，甚至寫作技巧上，它卻是完全獨立的，那就是所謂浪漫派的文學。九歌是楚辭里的一篇，有著非常濃厚的浪漫氣質。那些故事，每一則都是一個美麗的神話。從天上到地下，從神到鬼，全有。現在我們已不知這些個歌是怎樣唱法，但只就故事的本身來看，已經是很動人的了。

I. When did the legend of Ho-po, or River God begin to arise in the history of China？Where did it begin？Which reasons lead to the creation of the legend？These questions are difficult to answer. According to my opinion the following points, based on my research，will approximately be true to fact：１）Such a legend could exist in any place, because people everywhere depended on rivers to cultivate and irrigate their fields，and were afraid of inundation，which was considered an act of God.
