Popular Hakka music is rising and flourishing in contemporary Taiwan. Thus, it is important to define and interpret Hakka popular music based on the portrays of 'Hakka experience?, 'Hakka culture? and 'Hakka identity? from the perspectives of Hakka artists. This paper will explore the representation of ethnic image, live experience of the Hakka: how the Hakka artists combine the various cultural materials to transfer, replace and create new ' Hakka hybridity? in popular music; how Hakka artists redefine themselves and reset ethnic boundaries of the Hakka music; how the complex issues of cultural identity from Hakka popular music are identified. |
