The purpose of this study was to understand the difficulties of parenting of visually-impaired couples, how they coped with them and their feelings of being parents. In this study, four pairs of visually-impaired couples were interviewed in depth. Research findings demonstrated their difficulties included discrimination, lacking of parenting models, different parenting beliefs and in a bad financial state. Confronting with these difficulties, they implemented negative and positive patterns of coping. Finally, all participants believed parenting was an enriching experience for them. |
