The aim of this research is to compare the anti-inflammatory activities of seven ethanol extracts of Chinese herbal medicines, Leonurus sibiricus, Quisqualis indica, Xanthium strumarium, Orthosiphon anistatus, Paederia scandens, Pteris multifida and Hedyotis diffusa. Our results showed that the ethanol extracts of X. strumarium and P. multifid were potent in inhibiting nitric oxide production in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages without causing adverse cytotoxicity in the test range. Therefore, these two Chinese herbs may present potential targets for health food development. |
